EAT: TASTE OF PERU / Chicago, IL

One of the best things about being new in town is the opportunity to try new restaurants. I was super excited to learn there was Peruvian food available close by (Rogers Park) and the reviews on Yelp had us salivating before we walked in the door. Lucky for us we stopped by TASTE OF PERU early on a Monday afternoon. Featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives the small restaurant can get quite crowded on weekends.

My friend, L., ordered the “Bistec a lo Pobre – estilo llita” (shown above) – grilled rib eye steak, fried plantains, 2 over easy fried eggs, beans and white rice. I went right for my favorite Chaufa de Pollo o Carne (shown below), Peruvian-style fried rice with green onions and egg.

I’m so happy I’m within their delivery radius! I can’t live without chaufa for very long.

Final thoughts: Highly recommended
