If you pay attention to editorial featuring Los Angeles’ Best Mexican Food, chances are you’ve read about Huarache. A friend who lives near Highland Park recommended the local spot for lunch. She suggested I try the huarache– fried masa topped with meat, beans and cheese– as well as an agua fresca. And, because I was starving I threw in a quesadilla con carne asada. The huarache, impossible to cut with the plastic fork and knife, was absolutely fabulous. I recommend just picking it up and shoveling it into your mouth, table manners be damned. My quesadilla was no slouch either– see photo. The most thrilling part– my bill came to less than $10! Highly recommended.
