It’s been one month since I started on the Nutrisystem plan and I’m feeling great! Lost 5 lbs.– less than I had hoped– but have also upped the workout schedule so I’m telling myself it’s because I’m gaining muscle.
Overall, the best benefit has been the newfound awareness about consumption in general. I’ve never been a big eater, but I haven’t been great about thinking about what’s in my food. Some sugar here, some salt there and all of a sudden you’re over your daily caloric, carb and fat guidelines! There are definitely days that I’ve veered from the Nutrisystem plan, but when those days come around I’m much more aware of my habits.
If you’re thinking about this program for yourself here are some pointers:
– Be ready to commit. If you’re not going to eat mostly Nutrisystem meals, you’re not going to see the results that you’re hoping for and you’re not going to stick to the program.
– Get ready to go grocery shopping. The Nutrisystem program works best when supplemented with fruits, veggies and other plan-approved “add ons”. My must-haves include Yoplait Light yogurt, sparkling water and nonfat milk.
– It helps if those around you are also attempting to be calorie-conscious…at the same time. Support is key. When you’re trying to get by on fewer calories than usual, you’re going to be hungry. That’s just how it is. The last thing you need is someone sitting with a juicy hamburger right next to you.
