I went to my first show of the 2010 season last night at The Hollywood Bowl. It was KCRW’s World Music Reggae Night and it was quite the show. Taurrus Riley opened the show, followed by Sly & Robbie and The Taxi Gang. And just when we started to think the aroma of freshly smoked herb excitement had reached its max, Jimmy Cliff came on stage, encouraged One Love and the crowd went nuts.
There are still plenty of shows to be seen. Our picks for the season:
Sergio Mendes and Morcheeba / July 30-31
Harry Connick Jr. and his Big Band with the Los Angeles Philharmonic / August 13-14
The Chemical Brothers, Chromeo, Yacht / August 29
Herbie Hancock: Seven Decades – The Birthday Celebration / September 1
Fireworks Finale: Pink Martini / September 10-12
Pavement, Sonic Youth, No Age / September 30
