MARIO’S PERUVIAN

You know those restaurants that you go into all the time…for take out, perhaps? You’re in there so often and it’s so casual and you scarf down the food so quickly that you forget to take photos? Yeah…that’s how I am when it comes to Mario’s. Years ago I Googled “best fried rice, Los Angeles” and lo and behold..there was a long thread dedicated to the topic on Chowhound. There also seemed to be consensus that the place was Mario’s Peruvian on Melrose.

I quickly let my fingers do the walking, dialed up Mario’s and ordered shrimp fried rice to go. Thank goodness I had– the speed at which I devoured the meal was not made for public places. In the time since, I have only tried one additional item on the menu: the Chicarron de Pollo (also delicious). One day, when my obsession for the shrimp fried rice subsides I’ll try something else. Like the chicken fried rice.
