I am so, so late in getting this post up. During Dine LA week I finally, finally went to try Tom Colicchio’s CRAFT in Century City. We tried the Braised Lamb Shank with Chick Peas and Romesco (above) and California Ribeye with Cranberry Beans (below). The side dishes for the table were yummy– fresh market vegetables, House Made Charcuterie (Smoked Salmon, Foie gras and Duck Mousse Spread with Pinot Jelly) and Baby Lettuce with Pecorino and Hazelnuts. And then dessert was Chai Panna Cotta and Cinnamon Sugar Donuts with Valrhona Chocolate. I’m a sucker for a well done panna cotta and really enjoyed this one. Though, my all-time favorite is the one from Comme Ça.
It was a great meal. The food was yummy, but the experience was great. We were seated right away (which can be iffy during Dine LA week, even with reservations), our server was knowledgeable and really friendly and I really enjoyed the environment. It really made you feel like you were out for a real dining experience. In Los Angeles, where casual rules, I appreciated that the diners surrounding us seemed like real adults (dressed up and all!) and it really felt like a night out.
