MEXICO Y BARRA

Sorry for the lag on posting on our Cinco de Mayo festivities! We headed over to the new Mexico y Barra, where Benvenuto used to be — right next to Koo Koo Roo on the corner of SM Blvd. and La Cienega. Everyone was nice and the mood was festive. Now, down to the details:

1) The $14 carne asada tacos (3) were kinda like the ones I get from the taco truck and weren’t as tasty it’s a toss up on who’s got the tastier fare.
2) Slowest service (maybe) ever. If not ever, came pretty close. I know this because I dozed off in the time span between the person in next to me ordering and my turn.
3) Our group of 6 was the smallest group there, so be prepared to spend some time avoiding screaming drunken banshees.

mexicoybarra-22One standout — the queso fundido (pictured above). Would have been better had they not forgotten to bring it and had it arrived before the end of the meal. Eh. Es la vida.

Editor’s Note (Added 5/19/09): There’s been some interesting traffic on this posting, so we feel compelled to comment. We stand by the comments on the service and pricing (of the tacos). We don’t visit multiple times before reviewing, because that’s not how most of us eat. However, it should be noted the restaurant had just opened and it was a holiday. If you would like to give it a go on your own, please do so. But, don’t blame us if our review should prove true.
