On a recent trip to Palm Springs my friend, S., made pizza using fresh pizza dough from Fresh & Easy. It was so good that I thought about it for days after. I also couldn’t get over how easy it was and just had to try it for myself. I’m not near a Fresh & Easy, I started with pizza dough from Trader Joe’s. Here’s where I mention again: I can’t believe I didn’t know about this stuff before now! Here’s all you need:
– Trader Joe’s fresh pizza dough
– Tomatoes – Both fresh or canned will work. I used whole tomatoes and chopped them; diced tomatoes also work.
– Cheese – mozarella’s the classic choice; S. used Provolone and it was delicious; I used Gruyere because that’s what I had in my fridge at the time.
Don’t have a pizza round? Me neither! I used a cast iron pan (shown above). You can also use a flat baking sheet.
